IF there is no lag involved, it should definitely be used, so we can judge the whole run rather than corners.

I think it would take a lot of drama out of battles. Judges perspectives might not be as good as where they choose to sit, and watching from spectator mode will help see the whole run. Judges could decide via msn or game chat.

Plus a points system (not the ingame points system...)

I agree the judging system needs to be modified but Im not sure about the MSN chat idea, lol. People could talk others into a different decision.. idk.

I'm talking about what actual judging criteria is more important for the driver to focus on and what to take into consideration when certain issues happen such as contact during a pass, what a pass determines... win for the run.. or win for that turn... what if you pass but the now follow car sticks to your door? tire dropping on inside and outside clipping points, wall tapping, initiation points/timing overall smoothness and and/or style and so on...

Every battle I've ever judged or been in, there has been a question of what to do when ______ happens.

Seems like some people don't worry too much about one thing and too much about another. Proximity should be important and the entire turn or run should be seen. Most battles only focus on that split second when they pass the judge car because usually that's all the corner judges have to go by.

Example... I've seen scenarios where the lead car will race all the way past the normal initiation point and up to where the judge can see and just initiate there... so now the gap is so huge what can the follow car do but race past the judge to catch up?

There should maybe be penalties for initiating too late maybe... or rewards for initiating early?

I kind of like the idea of a point system if it were properly executed. Like if both drivers performed awesome on the run, you give them both the same score or one a slight advantage if he did a little something to stand out... then the next run will decide the battle? (More like Formula D) I'm just throwing ideas out there...

And we should also do away with re-runs. =)

Yes, I said it. LoL

I've been running tourneys every weekend for the last few months just among my team. We came up with a 9 point system with a +/- one point. Judging on speed, angle, and apex(line). You could get as much as 3 points per criteria, for a total between 0 and 9 per corner, and max of 27 per run.

The +/- point comes in for the initiation, and proximity. If a car is door to door, they can get a bonus point, to far away from the lead car they could get a point taken away. Using 50 rolls we've never had a problem with one car running away from another. On the first corner if one car stands out with their initiation, they could also get a bonus point for that.

It's worked without any problems for a while, but not sure how something like this would work with judges that weren't used to it.
