Hi Lads,
I am new to Drifting and could do with abit of help. I have read DIS Boppinz thread which I found very helpfull but I could do with some help.
I have 2 cars which I have setnup for drift:
One is a complete copy off DIS Boppinz's Toyota Sprinter Trueno and I also have a Nissan 370z with the BKLJ package on it.
I have always raced with Automatic Transmission and Autobrake. I have read that you take Auto Brake, Change it to Manual, Take Traction Control Off and Stability Control Off.
Well I seem to be struggling alot by taking all these assits of. I have been trying to use the Toyota Sprinter on Suzuka East but I just can't control the drift!
I always seem to spin off as I come out of the corner. Is there a reason for this?
Also, is there a special way to drift? I just seem to be tapping the handbrake or just using the brake and accelerating.
Final Question: Is it best to have high revs or low revs when drifting around a corner?
I am sure you get asked these questions lots of times but I would be very gratefull if you could help me! |

first off start with low power. Those are cars tuned for some one with alot more skill.
Second TCS OFF STM OFF AUTO BRAKE OFF MANUAL TRANSMISSION
TCS off so you get wheel spin
STM off because you wiil be able to spin the car around with out it trying to brake and correct itself
Auto brake because its lame and dosent help rather hurts your drifting
Manual transimission because you have better control of your car.
Build up a B class car and parctice drifting Tsukba and get the hang of learning the drift. Start by powereing into a corner then counter steering out to keep the car from spinning.
Send me a FR and ill help you with a car thats tunned for begginers and some more pointers

Once the car is sideways you are looking for just the right amount of counter steer and throttle to keep it there. As for spinning in corners... It could be a few things. You could be giving it too much throttle , or not enough.

Also, just because you got tunes from more respected individuals, don't mean that they'll work for you. You may need to try out as many as 5 or 10 different tuners until you find one that tunes to your liking. After that, as you start to learn how to drift, you can start playing with making your own tunes. Good luck, and don't let some spins get you down, we all had to start off spinning, lol.

When I started drifting on FM1 I got a setup online , tossed it on my car and proceeded to spin into walls for quite sometime. lol

Lol, so very true. If there is someone out there that doesn't, then I have yet to see or meet that fool.

That and just having crap days. I have entire days where I drift like sh*t. Yesterday for example. Pure poop drifting.
